Fresh concept with not a very clear plot
visual_addict24 October 2021
Not a bad show at all but lacked clarity a bit in the plot. The developments were good. Acting - great!

They didn't clarify mom's part of story or about the protagonist's father.

I didn't like the graphics during the color rush a lot... The chemistry felt amazing except for the kiss.

I loved the way they introduced a new concept though, so I think the show is worth the watch!! Not like any other BL.

Original Concept (only mild spoilers)

Warning: Spoilers
I am really impressed by this show! It really felt like a high-budget, regular k-drama. If you watch BL dramas, you know they tend to feel low-budget, underdeveloped, and rushed. This one was very different - it had some nice special effects, a decent soundtrack, good acting, and I very original premise. I did have two complaints: the mom story line has no resolution at all, so I am hoping they will do a second season (though I doubt it will happen). Second, the one and only kiss was VERY PG. However I did feel like the characters had chemistry, and I liked the secondary friend characters. Overall this was done well, and it gives me hope that BL drama's will get better in the future.

Not so good

I don't know how to express myself optimally on this series. It certainly lets itself be watched, the idea is very interesting and the protagonists are nice but I don't think it has been developed in the best way.

The story and the mystery of the disappearance of the mother is very interesting but it is quite left aside, the relationship between the protagonist and the aunt is very sketchy and the interactions between the two boys are minimal. I would have preferred to see in depth the relationship of the protagonists or in any case some more active moments, given that at the moment the plot is very flat.

Can you watch it? Yes Would I look at it again? No Will I watch the second season? Probably not.

I enjoyed watching this series and I think it was good, maybe it had small flaws, but the story and the actors were good.

Not Good Enough

Warning: Spoilers
Korean mini drama " Color Rush " had an interesting and unique concept, but it didn't pull it through. That is mostly due to its length that leads to the story and romance being rushed, as the progress had to give time to the explanation of the whole mono universe. The drama also left out A LOT, like those drowning sequences that were not explained, not to mention they completely left out what happed to the father, and just presented an ending that was convenient as it was needed to be a happy one. I mean, it was said that it's rare for a mono to finds his probe, and, considering how many people were actually mono, it was a bit stretched to have mono criminals always on the news. Plus, if the lead was afraid that he will turn obsessive over his probe, then why that ending? And wasn't his probe a lot more obsessive than him? (his reasoning wasn't that convincing either). In addition, those color rush moments were cheesy and they overdid it with the lights and graphics.

Other than that, the performances were pretty good from everyone in the cast and the cinematography, other than the bold CGI, was good.

So, overall, three out of ten, because this drama had potential but it didn't have time to properly present and develop it and it had too many plot holes.

meh.

I watched this after Cherry Blossoms, thinking I'd keep surfing on my newly found BL wave. Maybe I'll do that, but Color Rush wasn't good enough to entertain me. The major flaw, as I see it, is the lack of chemistry. Everything seems forced between those two. I have nothing against love at first sight, or attraction that comes from mutual need/acknowledgement between special beings. The latter, I know well from Octavia's Buttler's novels, and it can be mind-blowing. Not in this movie. The performances weren't good enough. The actors were stiff, as if unwilling to touch or kiss.

Also, the whole Color Rush phenomenon was weirdly executed.

It could have been great though. I liked the concept of a predator fighting his instincts before a willing prey. Reminded me of extraordinary, soonworthy, way better, Beastars.

Last but not least, maybe the biggest flaw. The "huge" secret that allowed the two of them to stay together... is revealed from the very beginning. Yoo Han doesn't say it explicitly, but you can tell right away why he is attracted to Yeon Woo.

So okay, but not great.

Huge disappointment
salmaawhed4 September 2023
It had an interesting idea, I'll give that and nothing else.

Zero chemistry between the leads, one of them was just reading a script not acting, and it was a very poor script, sudden transitions that makes you wonder if you had accidentally skipped a minute or so, unexplained plot holes, and s1 ending was wrapped up in haste.

At some point I felt bad for Yoo Jun because he was actually trying to put some effort there but nothing in the drama was helping.

I had been excited for this drama but it's really bad, even Sanghyuk, whom I really like, being in s2 isn't enough for me to watch any more of it.
