Broken Plot

Sonic X is a children's show, as a result it has certain limitations that other shows do not have. However, being written for children is no excuse for bad writing.

"Huge Shoot-out on the Savannah" is one the most poorly written stories I have ever seen. Even a basic analysis of the plot shows it's completely broken.

The premise of the story is that "some guys" (I have to say "some guys" because the story gives you no clue at all who they actually are) are building a dam on the African Savannah. When finished with the dam, "these guys" will redirect a nearby river and charge people for the electricity.

This idea is ridiculous on every level. How are "these guys" just able to build a dam in a nature preserve? Did they think they could just start a major construction project and no one would notice? Did they bribe the local government to turn a blind eye?

Did "these guys" think they would be able to divert a river without anyone noticing? Exactly how do "these guys" think their going to be able to charge people for the electricity? Do they think they can just mail people a bill and people will pay it? How are "these guys" going to make people stop using the electricity they are ALREADY using?

What's going to stop the government from swooping in and destroying "these guys" the minute they start charging people? Why are most of the people near this dam in the African Savannah white? Why does none of this make any sense?

A much better plot would have been for the "these guys" to have taken over the dam and demand money or they would blow the dam up, flooding the people below the dam.

The only good part of this episode is the animation which maintains the quality of previous episodes. It's not excellent but it's not bad either.

This episode is terrible, and you're better off skipping it in favor of other much more entertaining episodes of Sonic X.
