This isn't about Willie.

Stuart is trying hard to put some spark into his relationship with April, the pair are struggling since the birth of their baby. Everything around him seems to be conspiring against him, loud neighbours and dodgy hummus.

It's a rather decent follow up, the pilot was very funny, I would say this was a good start to the series, Lee Mack is or course funny, he's great, but I'd argue the best of the laughs came from Willie, Stu's dad is one crazy guy.

Lee Mack with a moustache? Not sure about that. I'm glad to see the actors that appeared in the pilot are back, especially Samantha Spiro.

This is another reason why eating hummus is a terrible idea.

Glad it's back, 7/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Lee Mack's real time sitcom returns for a full series after the enjoyable pilot episode was broadcast in 2019.

Set four months after the pilot. Stuart has been left holding the baby as his relationship with the much younger April is on the skids.

Stuart wants to win her back, April thinks he lacks spontaneity. Stuart thinks cooking something and serving it with his dad's special houmous will do the trick.

Well it will when Stuart learns that his dad's special houmous is laced with magic mushrooms.

It became apparent to me that Stuart will certain start being out there and spontaneous.

It was a busy first episode but it was also very contrived. I forgot about the real time element gimmick.

The writing in this episode was too reliant on weak jokes and shouting. Maybe it needed Lee Mack's quick witted humour from Not Going Out. A bit of a let down from the pilot.
