The performances in this episode... DAMN
strawberry-605025 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Each one from this episode delivered an outstanding and mindblowing performance from Jennifer Aniston (not surprised though), Reese Witherspoon when she cried over her brother, Chip's panicking over losing Alex and their screaming match in the car, and Karen Pittman meltdown over Mitch's death.

I didn't like Mitch as much as the next person and I don't support any redemption arc for rapists and sexual predators, but I have to admit that Steve Carell's brilliance (as always) brought so many layers to this character that just makes you to hate to like him, but you just do.

I really liked this episode compared to the rest of the season. It was super intense which brought back what we loved about this show.

Much better
bobetjo5 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When this show deviates away from its navel gazing the program is worth watching. Chip gets a good shot at expressing his frustration with Alex. And Alex is played excellently as self absorbed to the extent she decides to break the bad news to Mitch's ex wife Paige as some sort of "Duty". The reaction she gets was entirely obvious to the viewers but not the character. That takes real skill in acting.

Just amazing

This is the best episode of this season. This season has been slow but now i can see the building up taking form and it's gonna be even better than last season finale.

Seriously .... WOW!!
woodvillelite-15 November 2021
This for me was the first episode where every thing done was so perfect ... acting, writing, editing and cinematography. A F'g AMAZING.

A massive rollercoaster ride where you think each peak was the highest but no they keep on coming. So. Glad Valeria Golino is also in the last two episodes, still on the fence about her character whether she really cared for Mitch or was playing him all along.

Absolute best

If there is any episode to ever watch from this amazing program it's this one. It is perfect. Period. The acting is flawless. Heart wrenching and powerful. This episode really was like a small film. They handled everything in a way that makes you empathize with all the characters. Remarkably moving.

I really liked this episode, all characters are passing through a whirlwind of emotions, loved the acting and the way they are dealing with their current circumstances. Can't wait for the next two episodes!

Best Acting of the Entire Series
BoomerFan6 November 2021
There's a fine line between acting genuine emotion and melodrama. This episode managed to stay on the right side of that line. Jennifer Anniston's Alex, whose nervous breakdown in the previous couple of episodes may have been a little over the top, hit all the right notes in the car scene with Chip. Mia vulnerability was amazing. Even Billy Crudup's smarmy Cory showed a moment or two of humanity.

An acting masterclass
haa48 November 2021
Best episode of Season 2 so far. So many reveals and stories coming to a head. I'm not sure how they can top this in the final 2 episodes but I suspect that there will be some type of twist coming with Laura at least.

Everything turns grey
papilomacacatua6 November 2021
This episode is the culmination of a contantly growing blur in the spearation of "the baddies" and "the goodies" that was happening from some episodes ago. This episode feels like real life. Everything is complex, every one of the four main storylines here are about a different set of problems and almost every time these storylines interchange, we see explosion.

About the acting, this is probably the best cast in a current running TV series.

This episode is long, but not boring. Fast but not rushed. Complex but not difficult.

A Highpoint
thatothermark5 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Best episode of the season, easily. Between the emotional turmoil of each separate character learning about Mitch's death to Bradley's brother causing a commotion in the studio to Alex and Chip's major blowout in the car, this episode did not hold back for one minute. Very camp, but very cool. Let's hope the remaining two in the season match this one's energy.

Huh... what?
relyks756 November 2021
I don't understand all the rave reviews of this episode. It seems like the writers forgot all about how time works. At one point, they took a 4 minute break that seemed to last at least 4 hours. The events that they showed could not have possibly occurred in the time frame of a single morning show episode.

A good episode but this season has dragged hence the rating
king_cameron5 November 2021
Finally a good episode, as another user said. But this season has been shockingly bad compared to the last. Still dealing with last season issues, but there isn't enough material and as a result it has been boring. And so obvious where this has been going since they announced a new season. Better as a mini series or introduce new material. Better to rewatch last season and forget about the second.

Overacted and unrealistic
mylfo6 November 2021
Just watch the car driving scene of Alex and Chip to get a real sense of the trash this episode is. Unreal dialogue, overacted and as usual an unrealistic expectation that Americans can drive in TV land without watching the road. This episode is a true shark jumper as all the actor's characters change to something they never were or were never hinted at being. The script writer definitely let the work experience kid have a bash at this episode. I have invested in this series so will now only watch it grittingly to the end.

The best of the season
stephanieho235 November 2021
There is so much emotion going on in this episode and the script is brilliant. The best part was when Alex and Chip were trashing how much they hated each other but grieve is a strange thing. Can't wait for the remaining 2 episodes.

Nail-biting
zachmetzgers20 December 2021
This episode has great suspense and tension and highly dramatic beats in it. Is Mitch dead? Isn't he? Chip is great in this episode and he frantically searches for Alex.

The exchange between Alex and Mitch's wife is intense.

Lots of conflict and drama. Some of these adults need to truly grow up, but it makes for crazy drama!

A good episode amidst a challenging season
willtunbridge5 November 2021
This was a great episode. What makes this show difficult to enjoy is how there are no like-able characters.

This episode was a great culmination of haphazard plot points so far, and resulted in some stellar acting and some interesting drama for everyone to work through in their own way.

Great episode, hope this bodes well for the last two eps in the season.

The biggest most emotion hour long ride of television in a long time
jclifford-329546 November 2021
This episode is on par with S1 EP10. It was frantic, it was heartbreaking, it was thought provoking. You couldn't look away for the whole hour and it just kept hitting you with the big blows. The writing was spot on and the acting was phenomenal. Can't wait for these next two episodes.

Bounce-Back Episode
greg-beaulieu6 November 2021
After a season of disjointed, confusing and disappointing episodes, this one started cleaning up the mess the earlier episodes had made. While not perfect - I found Mark Duplass' performance strained, and Mia's soliloquy was a bit much - a lot of loose ends are now able to be tied up. I still am wondering what the point of Bradley's brother showing up was, since we already knew she was messed up, and the scene with Chip and his fiancé seemed pointless, but that was offset by the scene with Chip, Cory, and his table. I still want Stella to get fired or otherwise disappear, since she seems unqualified and clueless, but there is still time for that. Jennifer Anniston turned in a fine performance here, and perhaps her character finally learned some truths. Hope the next two episodes resolve a few more things.

Amazing TV
pnutwhistle6 November 2021
The whole cast did an amazing job portraying the complicated range of emotions that such an event provokes, but Mark Duplass was outstanding - such an underrated actor.

Great episode, but $hitty ending
vickiekay5 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Great acting and very emotional episode. I found the direction they took when reporting the death very distasteful and unrealistic, though. Everyone knew what they had done so to use their death as a platform to continue chastising them was silly.

Horrendous Acting and Writing
nivedita-mehta31 October 2022
The car scene with Alex is so cringeworthy and badly overacted. Not a single sincere teardrop or even any signs of real anguish. It is so bad.

Then there is the whole Mia scene explaining why she feels the way she does-again badly acted and written.

The bit with Bradley's brother in the cafeteria with people just coming in as spectators is unreal and gimmicky.

The only saving grace in this travesty of an episode is Billy Crudup. He owns his lines, his character and dominates every scene he is in without overdoing it and playing it as sincerely as it is possible. I am sorry he did not win an Emmy.
