We love Eric Roberts in this movie. He's a wacky ex-husband, George, who hires an ex-con, Vincent, to take care of his ex-wife so he doesn't have to pay her alimony by marrying her. However, Vincent has his own agenda with her and double-crosses him. This is not as bad a movie as it's rated, imho. Better than the typical Lifetime fare because the plot is quite detailed with few continuity flaws.

ON WHICH PLANET OR ALTERNATE UNIVERSE IS THIS SET IN????

Actually, this is the usual fun movie LMN to watch as long as you don't take it too seriously. Also, Eric Roberts is in it and that's always a PLUS!
However, there were many thins that just didn't seem that believable - like:
1. Vincent's apparent charm over Allison as well as all the other women - that just doesn't happen that easily!
2. Allison's extreme naivete - you are at least 40+ and act like a 15 year old!
3. Allison's daughter and her boyfriend's involvement with checking out Allison's relationship with Vincent - in reality kids will care only minimally.
4. The characters taking baths wearing their underclothes?
5. A prolonged electric shock in a bathtub full of water not being fatal?
5. The biggest what? THE ENDING (I don't want to spoil it)
Just have a drink or two and enjoy it!

Cast List

The movie was okay, but that's not what I'm writing about. I'm extremely disappointed that Eric Roberts wasn't listed as a cast member. Eric Roberts has acted in many many movies, many more movies, I'm sure, then the other actors in this movie. And yet he was not listed as a member of the cast. He played the part of the ex-husband and he should have been included. This was wrong.
Nonsense

It would have been a good mov8if it wasn't so similar to the rest of Lifetime movies. The mother was so gullible, fell head over heel in love with someone she knew nothing about. Lifetime play a lot of movies where the ladies are always gullible and that take away from the movie been a good movie. Most certainly took a lot from this movie.
Just ok - main character annoying!

I may not be the best person to review Her Deadly Groom, as it is the only Lifetime movie I've ever seen. However, compared to the usual made-for-television fare on other networks, the movie holds its own. The cast was professional. I was surprised to see Eric Roberts in this film, but he underplayed his role competently. Kate Watson as Allison was stuck with a part that would be difficult for any actor. It is hard to believe that her character is a bright entrepreneur when she is so slow on the uptake about her murderous new boyfriend. Michael DeVorzon is convincingly creepy as Vincent Black. The always dependable Kelly Erin Decker makes the viewer wish Brenna could be his/her best friend, as well as Allison's.
Production values were good with a nice mix of interior and exterior scenes, all well lighted and photographed. The editing, however, seemed severe. When I described this film as "Fast paced," I wasn't necessarily being positive. There are no lulls in the plot; it is constantly moving. Unfortunately, it felt as if characterization and plot development were sacrificed to keep the action going.
So, if you get a chance to see Her Deadly Groom, you definitely won't be bored, but you might find the plot difficult to believe.

Eric Roberts is the hardest working man on Lifetime

Warning: Spoilers
He's always so fun and hammy and it's awesome when he just pops up. As per usual, he wasn't exactly a good guy in this, but his character was done dirty. He was the ex-husband of the lead, and they shared a daughter, and yet his untimely demise was treated like a blip. No mourning, no funeral service, no mention of his family/parents, and then of course the tasteless joke by the dopey best friend.
This movie is ok but like with so many movies in this genre, the gullibility and naïveté of the protagonists gets people hurt and killed. How desperate was she that she never questioned this guy. He reeked of snake oil . The situation with the house...everything went over her head. I do like that Vincent was the villain from the start because the movie didn't really drag out, but I'm tired of these dumb women that are really too old to be so daft It's much more believable when it's a high school girl on Lifetime. I do like that the suspicious boyfriend survived and I liked that the daughter wasn't really involved since she was a teen.
Also can we talk about the climax? Why choose that particular method of defense if you aren't going to commit to it? SPOILERS IF YOU KEEP READING..........how in the world would V have survived electrocution? It's not like they were going to help save him and by the time the police and paramedics got there, wouldn't he have been dead? It's one thing to be shocked, but electrocuted? Come on, Lifetime. Ruined what was a decent thriller.

Every Lifetime Formula in One Movie
Stoshie30 July 2020
OK, so I'm used to these movies following a formula; they all do. But this one had just about all of them in it. What else is there to say? You know who is going to get hurt or killed, you know the good guy won't know that the bad guy is bad until the last few minutes of the movie, and you have a quick, far-fetched ending where everyone lives happily ever after. There is more, but I don't want to waste more of my time pointing out every plot point that is common to these movies. Did I cite any spoilers? Not for anyone who has ever seen a Lifetime movie before.
There isn't even an attempt at any originality here. Even the title followed the Lifetime pattern. The writers just picked some formulaic plot points from column A and column B, mixed them together, and create a thoroughly predictable movie.
Even for a Lifetime movie, this one was disappointing. Some of them at least try to be a bit different, even if in only small ways. This one did not.

The ending was implausible. Nonetheless it is worth a watch .

Wonderful leading actress and believable plot
maryholmes-7725929 July 2020
I really enjoyed this movie, which is a dark thriller. Consistently believable characters and good acting; the leading actress, Kate Watson, stands out in her honest, genuine portrayal of a recently divorced mother. This type of online dating fiasco happens frequently and the plot is based upon a true story, so it's completly believable. Bravo to cast and crew!
Worth a watch - Way better than average performances

Enjoyed this movie with the family recently. The leading actress played a convincing role as newly divorced woman who meets up with the wrong guy. These two lead actors held the movie together. Kate Watson shined in this role. We'd love to see her in more movies!
Exciting thriller and fantastic acting

I love lifetime movies and Her Deadly Groom is surely one of the best I have seen! The acting is fantastic, especially the leading actress Kate Watson. She is not only beautiful to look at, but her acting seems to come so naturally for her, that she is a pleasure to watch. And I enjoy watching movies with actor Eric Roberts too! I look forward to seeing more movies with both of them!
