If you get Smackdown vs Raw 2009 and Legends of Wrestlemania it allows for more for the price
Terryfan13 November 2015
WWE Legends of Wrestlemania I have to agree is a game that could have been a lot more than it was after it's release. However it does allow you to transfer the roster from WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 to this game and the same can be said for the roster for Legends of Wrestlemania

The game's roster of WRESTLERS Andre The Giant Animal Arn Anderson Bam Bam Bigelow Big Bossman Big John Studd Bret "Hitman" Hart British Bulldog Brutus Beefcake Dusty Rhodes Greg Valentine Hacksaw Jim Duggan Hawk Honky Tonk Man Hulk Hogan Hunter Hearst Helmsley Iron Sheik Jake The Snake Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart Jimmy Snuka Junkyard Dog Kamala King Kong Bundy Koko B. Ware Michael Hayes Mr. Perfect Nikolai Volkoff Ravishing Rick Rude Ric Flair Rowdy Roddy Piper Sgt. Slaughter Shawn Michaels Stone Cold Steve Austin Ted DiBiase The Rock The Ultimate Warrior Undertaker Yokozuna along with the managers: Bobby "The Brain" Heenan Jimmy Hart Mr. Fuji Paul Bearer

The main complain I have about the game is the controls during game play sometimes you would be require to hit buttons on command now normally that wouldn't bother me but this is suppose to be a wrestling game and if you have to do a specific combo during the match on command where is the fun in that?

However the game once you get the hang of it will allow you to have some fun with the different modes the game has to offer each with the history of Wrestlemania along with seeing old footage of past Wrestlemania shows to help those new to wrestling. So the Nostalgia factor is very strong in this game which is a selling point for the game

The graphics are very good with good models for the wrestlers and arenas it's nice the arenas look like they did back in the day and the setting gives you the feeling being back in the day.

The sound is good with Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler doing play by play also the theme songs are both good and let downs

As for the game play it took a little getting use to but it's better if you play with friends since that is what wrestling games are meant for

Overall if you enjoy the classic days of wrestling than this is your game or you just want to try something different and you might can find this game in good bargain

I give WWE Legends of WrestleMania an 7 out of 10

Great Nostalgia; Controls Not A Deal-Breaker
zkonedog11 March 2017
For fans of the late 1980s-early 1900s WWF, the ones who still rock out to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme and remember the "Million Dollar Belt", this game will be a gold mine of nostalgia. While the current most popular wrestling video game series (Smackdown vs. Raw) focuses on the contemporary wrestling stars, "Legends of WrestleMania" takes a step back, remembering such figures as Andre The Giant, Ted "Million Dollar Man" Dibiase, Bret Hart, Hogan, and Ultimate Warrior (to name but a few).

The most impressive thing about this game is the nostalgia factor. Each wrestler is a remarkable complete version of themselves from back in the day, right down to their appearance, mannerisms, theme songs, and finishing moves. Jake "The Snake" Roberts comes out with Damien in the bag, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake has the shears, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan has the infamous 2x4, and Honky Tonk Man enters in the full Elvis get-up. Basically, for those of you who were "Hulkamaniacs" (or at least heard of the term), you could spend hours just watching all the entrances and (in some cases; the game modes) videos that lead up to each match.

The biggest complaint fielded about this game is the controls, but to me not even that was a negative deal-breaker. Sure, it isn't the smoothest of control schemes, but even after playing the game for quite awhile I am in no way disgusted with it or in any way affected by them in terms of my in-game enjoyment. In fact, for "old school" gamers like me who struggle with a two-joystick setup, the control scheme is actually a blessing in disguise, as the game can be played on a much simpler level (and still enjoyed) before venturing into the more complex moves.

The most glaring weakness I found in this game was actually a lack of some sort of "career" mode (akin to the "Season/Franchise" mode in the Madden series). Basically, besides the exhibition mode, three primary gaming avenues can be taken: Relive (play as the winner in key WWE matches throughout history), Rewrite (play as the underdog in other key matches), and Redefine (e.g. Andre the Giant vs. Big John Studd in a Steel Cage...something that never actually happened). While those modes are great, they don't offer the same thrill as, say, perhaps picking your favorite wrestler and having to fight your way to the top belt.

Thus, for any XBOX 360 gamer looking for a bit of WWF nostalgia, this game will not disappoint. It even includes characters like The Rock, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and Shawn "HBK" Michaels to bridge the gap. While the lack of a "career" mode severely limits your gaming options, that weakness is diminished due to the amount of time you will just want to spend re-creating your own matches (in multiple formats) with your buddies. Plus, because of the unique control scheme, beginner gamers will find the game easy to pick up on.

Why didn't they make this game right?
superflyjimmy10021 May 2009
This game was a complete & utter let down for what it should have been:

1. Roster of just over 40 for a next generation console is an insult. Granted 'some' couldn't be in due to legal issues but there are 70 in SvR 2009. Considering all the great characters that have gone by in the WWE then to be given just 40 was a disgrace.

2. Weight detection system was a joke. André getting tossed around by Koko B. Ware. You have got to be kidding me.

3. Almost every entrance attire left out.

4. Wrestlers should look the way that they were and not like cartoons.

Hogan was never that big, André was much fatter, Greg Valentine didn't have a six pack. The list has no end.

5. More moves are required.

6. This isn't Mortal Kombat & wrestlers don't block, or use 'Fists of Fury' combos.

7. Wrestlers should sell the moves and not pop up from the canvas like nothing happened.

8. Put in a referee so wrestlers actually have someone to distract/attack/argue with.

9. Commentary from Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross yet again, is an insult.

10. Michael Hayes - the less said the better. If you were going to put him in then where did the other Freebirds go to?? Arn Anderson without Tully Blanchard?? Great thinking THQ.

11. THQ to come out with DLC for SvR 2009 with Earthquake, Vader, The Bushwackers & Doink when they should automatically have been in WWE LOW sums up all you need to know about THQ & how they conduct their business. No wonder they suffered huge losses.

Why was this game made at all if they weren't going to do it right.

Could Have Been So Much Better
Steve_Walls18326 March 2009
The graphics are amazing- very realistic and life-like!

The roster is amazing- lots of classic WWE stars who all took part in the Wrestlemania series!

The compatibility with Smack-Down is also amazing- giving you the chance to combine the present with the past!

But- there are still some major problems with this WWE game- like the fact that there isn't a tournament mode of any kind.

Sure, you can take part in some classic matches and re-write history, but only with certain wrestlers.

There's nothing that your entire roster can all take part in together, except for maybe the Royal Rumble- or Exhibition mode.

Legends of Wrestlemania lacks the ability to involve every wrestler in some sort of exciting storyline- like the previous Smack-Down Vs Raw games did.

I mean, there's no way to start an original career mode with all of your favorite wrestlers, and that really takes away from the fun.

I hope they come out with a much better version of this terrible game... because I was very let down.
