The cast members also recall fondly Sykes the first dog who appeared on the show for five years (Season 14-18). Sykes was a Jack Russell Terrier. Neil Dudgeon mentions that Sykes could perform ten commands in a row, and was the best actor he had ever worked with.
At the beginning of Season 19, DCI Barnaby adopts a new dog, Paddy, a terrier. Neil Dudgeon says that Paddy is very sweet. This special was fun and it was interesting to hear the memories of the cast in regards to their guest actors and favorite episodes.
