'Romantic Rejection' Brings Out Strongest Emotions
ccthemovieman-19 June 2008
What happens when jealousy rears its ugly head and people take it to the extreme by killing? That's the topic of this TV program, which apparently covers different motives for killer and evil people, in general. I say "apparently" because this is the first time I've watched this program.

It's explained early on that people who commit "crimes of passion" (jealousy ) are not really "evil," as portrayed on their other episodes. Most times these are fairly normal people who snap with blind rage because, as one person puts it, "romantic rejection" brings out the strongest emotions in most people. This emotion gone amok, sadly, affects a lot of people when someone takes it to the extreme.

Tests indicate, it is said in this episode, that for men, having their loved one have sex with someone else puts them in a rage more than anything else. For women, it's the man telling them they love another woman that sets them off.

We get examples of both, and other cases, in this hour-long show. Some of the killers have been pretty famous, such as Texan Clara Harris, the lady who ran over her husband four times with her automobile and Andrew Cunanan, the nutcase who killed four fellow gays including fashion designer Giovanni Versace. The latter case gets the most attention on this show but he was unusual in that he killed a handful of people in several states. Most "crimes of passion" involve just one victim, the program notes.

This show was pretty interesting. The narrator, a Dr. Michael Stone, a forensic psychiatrist, was kind of bland and sounded wooden, but I'll give other episodes a look.
