Relaxing viewing

Came across this by chance and was hypnotized by it. There is something somewhat relaxing about watching someone idling along a canal. Perfect afternoon viewing when you just want to chill and have to admire the guy for leaving the rat-race and pursuing his dreams.

RELAXING, entertaing, with humorous gems
edstvimi17 April 2021
Stumbled upon this and was hooked after the first show, very relaxing, completely melts stress, and the host is a genial chap who looks like he'd make a good cup of tea. Every now and then he lets loose with a humorous jewel -what did he just say? And we need to back it up to catch it. The abosultely perfect show for the end of an evening.

Very entertaining

David John has a way of combining, history, nature and his own ineptness into a very interesting and entertaining show. Just finished season 4. Can't wait for moor.

What a wonderful program . Full of useful info delivered in a relaxing style which aided by a couple of 'doobies' was simply mesmerising..

Marvelous TV viewing

Always been fascinated by canal cruising. This series presents it beautifully. The countryside is generally very soothing too.

Fun, Funny, Informative

Delightful, captivating and very often funny. Dry sense of humor coupled with gorgeous scenery makes this British series top-notch.

One thing I wonder, why the host doesn't add a covering (plastic) for where he stands to navigate. Protection from weather and, except for the really low ceilings of a few bridges, an option?

Same as ' travels by narrowboat'
jaxfishgyd29 July 2022
The two shows are 'nice', but neither use boating terms. As a Master 100 ton Captain since 1973, and having just spent 21 years living on a yacht (here in the USA) I cringe when both say 'rope' instead of 'line', or front instead of bow, back instead of stern, going 'left' instead of port, kitchen instead of galley and so on. On the up side, least this show takes you thru what the narrowboat looks like on the inside.. But heck, Britian was renowned as a ship power for a long time. Maybe in later seasons of the show he'll become a real boater... I will watch more of the shows though, of both people.
