Amazing but with loopholes

Warning: Spoilers
Brilliant story and execution, but sadly towards the end there were lots of question marks, 1- the king was stuck between times and needed to wait 4 months until he returns to his time, but his uncle the traitor was also stuck in the same zone however he manages to return way before the king! 2- supposedly one part of the magical stick can let you cross between parallel worlds, but only both pieces are needed to pass to a different time; yet we see the king going back to the treason night while he left one piece with the detective! Also other minor things like the little boy who pass between worlds without any stick his story wasn't clear and how did the king woman managed to keep her memories wasn't clearly explained. Also the king sadly decided to sacrifice his life to kill the traitor as if it was the only way, while apparently he can take an army with him through time and eliminate his uncle and his men so easily. A beautiful sci fi plot was built but wasn't handled nor addressed properly. The love story though had the perfect ending.

A fan-service ending that didn't really satisfy!

Warning: Spoilers
This ending is great for everyone who was invested in Lee Gon and Tae Eul's love story. Sadly the time travel and multiverse story wasn't well executed. Towards the end it felt like the love story was more important than the sci-fi aspect of the story and many loopholes were left unaddressed. Everything felt forcefully positive without much logical meaning behind it. I had high hopes but instead it felt very meh...

Loving Our Fate That Chose Us

Warning: Spoilers
Note to self: I watched this episode on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 during COVID-19. This episode was released just days ago.

Yeong and Gon go to that night in 1994 and Yeong snaps Buyeong's son's neck.

Gon and Yeong appear enter in a backlit slo-mo strut and shoot the guards down. Yeong looks pretty cool. Yeong is shot and has to sit out. Gon gives a nod to Yeong and continues to take out guards confidently and coolly.

Yeong holds little Gon and checks his pulse. It is so sweet. The palace workers rush to the king's body and Ok-nam cries and holds little Gon.

Rim runs to the gate and Gon goes after him and Gon slashes him a few times. Gon sentences him to be beheaded and slits his throat which isn't the same thing but now Rim has died.

Rim's body disintegrates in between worlds and Tae-eul cries and she assumes Gon cannot return.

In 1999 Luna attempts to take bills from the fish shop that Seo-ryung's mom owns. Seo-ryung is young and in her school uniform. She harshly wants to call the police but her mom lets Luna sit for food and gives her bills.

Tae-eul wakes up with a gun and bloody clothes with a little crowd around her. She asks where she is and the date and learns it is April 2020 in the Republic of Korea. She shows her ID card telling the crowd she is a police officer and asks to borrow a phone. Her facial expressions are so pretty and sad and hopeful...the acting is so good. She calls Moonshik and asks about Shinjae, Jangmi, and the others. Her face falls and she lowers the phone. She cries and later we learn that people in her circle aren't there anymore.

Tae-eul still has her memories despite Gon and Shinjae not being in her world anymore.

Walking down the street in a mature black coat, she passes by Ji-hoon (Gon's alternate) who is now alive in a black military uniform. She narrates recalling Gon's promise of opening every door and returning. She collapses and cries.

Gon goes through different doors looking for Tae-eul. In one world she is in a pilot's uniform. In another she is drunk and in a fancy dress and heels. She is a celebrity and her personality is so different in the annoying way. There are other alternates that are not the Tae-eul he is looking for.

In 2021 Tae-eul is driving and Na-ri tells her through a phone call that she sees a white horse with a guy. Tae-eul places her police siren and goes home.

Gon is waiting with the blue flowers. He says there is her in every universe he went to and none of them recognize him. He wonders why she is crying and looking like she knows everything. He checks her ID and sees the necklace he gave her that she is wearing.

Gon grabs her in a hug and Tae-eul asks what took him so long. She has spent every day waiting for him. Gon explains he had to go back to get Yeong and we see Yeong in 2021 reading the events that unfolded.

Gon is baffled that she still remembers him and we know this is because she spent time in between the worlds. He says that even if she forgot he would tell her who he was all over again.

She wants to skip all of that and kisses him instead. He asks if she still hates flowers and she replies she likes them. He gives her the flowers and repeats his words from before: "I love you. I am deeply in love with you.". Tae-eul notes this is how everything comes together.

We flash forward to 2022 and Yeong complains about babysitting the twins. His parents got back together. Gon asks if he misses Eunseob and he sadly replies Eunseob doesn't remember him anyway.

Tae-eul meets Gon at the gate and Gon narrates they have been doing things they have skipped. They enter gates and go to different years. They look at the pay phones of each world and guess the year by the looks of the model.

Tae-eul excitedly looks for the right clothes as they are in the Joseon era. She sees leaves in the suitcase of various attires they bring along. She puts the leaves against her body. Gon says they don't know what to expect and I'm assuming he means if they go back to Adam and Eve's time.

Gon and Tae-eul enter a gate and they accidentally end up in Corea shortly after Gon left. Gon hides Tae-eul with his jacket. Ok-nam comes into Gon's room and sees them together and leaves them alone.

In the CCTV room Gon and Tae-eul kiss and it is a pretty hot scene with more touching.

Gon takes her to her world and her daily life resumes. She chases criminals with Jangmi who is still on the team.

Gon and Tae-eul continue travelling and we see them walking together with Tae-eul dressed in heels and a skirt.

Tae-eul narrates they want to "love tirelessly" and they have decided to love the fate that chose them. They hold hands and we see flashes of their future aged skin and their current youthful skin.

Gon continues the narration saying they will live for today forever.

Lessons I can take from this drama is to enjoy every moment.

I do feel that there are some knots that were not tied up. I wonder why Ok-nam travelled to Corea. I feel sad and empty that Tae-eul inner circle has been broken up. Tae-eul and Gon prancing through different eras, universes, doors was slightly too happy-go-lucky for me. I'm assuming I was to find their new abundance of vacation places romantic and thrilling but it struck me as irresponsible.

I love the side characters - Eunseob, Yeong, Shinjae, Jangmi and Nari. Even the older police officer. I felt so empty learning the group was split up.

I love Yeong's personality and character. The actor did a good job with Yeong and Eunseob but I did find Eunseob slightly unnatural. Lee Minho and Kim Go Eun were amazing as usual. I find Kim Go Eun's natural beauty so refreshing.
