Saying No to Mondays
hellraiser71 April 2022
This episode is a bit of an honorable mention, would have been a favorite have it had one or two more good skits, the first two aren't bad their ok but their just not high up on the funny scale at least the one I have.

But to me one out of three is better than nothing at all, and this episode has one of my favorite Garfield skits ever. It's also in a way one of my favorite skit/episodes on the holiday (if you want to count it as one) "Friday the 13th" ok not quite but due to the nature of the day Garfield goes though it's close enough.

It's just funny because of the absurdity of the whole premise, surprised no one has made some comedy movie based on this. I really love the fact that Garfield really hates Mondays, yeah, I and a lot of my friends are not a fan of that day either. It's hard to say what gets us down about that day, it could be many things, for me and my friends it simply meant the beginning of the school or work week, yeah that's a load of thrills. Even like the narrator in this skit who sounds like Don Fontane but isn't, but it really gives this episode that storybook or anthology horror vibe.

For Garfield it's his dreaded "Friday the 13th" as it's a day of bad karma. From having to eat raisins, pies out of no where thrown at him, and I hate to imagine anything else happening to him because once I do it probably would.

Of course, we see Garfield make a wish in the well at the park and it comes true, Mondays officially become nonexistent. It's just absurdly hilarious how one single lost day can affect the whole world, I guess in the Garfield verse no one ever heard of rescheduling. We see movie theaters unable to distribute and premiere new movies as they do that only one Monday's, which is kind of weird as in my world we regularly do it on Friday's; though that can be one plus in the Garfield verse wouldn't have too long a wait for new movies.

Grass not getting cut because people do it on you know what day, the list just goes on and we see things are even worse than before for Garfield. Can Garfield bring back Monday's and restore the natural order of things like having Lasagna again, you'll have to wait and see.

Monday Skit Rating: 4 stars Episode Rating: 3 stars.
