New rooms for the kids!
PudgyPandaMan11 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is broken into 2 parts for television, Part 1 & Part 2. Part 1 covers more of the construction and picking out new furniture. Part 2 is putting the finishing touches on the room.

If anyone has ever had their home remodeled, you know what a stressful time this can be. Now imagine this happening with 8 kids under foot, all 6 years old & younger!! First there is the chaos of adding extra people into a house that is already crowded. Then there's constant eardrum-busting, stress-inducing noise from the the saws, drills, nail guns, compressors, etc. I don't know how they survived this.

The construction started in June and wasn't finished until the end of summer. They were converting an unfinished attic over the garage into a new bedroom for the twins, Cara & Mady. Currently the sextuplets had all been sharing one room. The girl sextuplets would move into the the twins old bedroom, and the boys would stay in their room.

One funny scene is one morning Kate is fixing waffles and has asked Jon to keep the kids occupied. Well, the kids are under her at the stove near the hot waffle iron. She then SCREAMS at Jon, "Jon I could use you help!". Then when he comes in to corral the kids, she tells HIM, "Gosh you don't have to be so mean!". That's the pot calling the kettle black! She then insists he take them down to the basement to get them out of her way. Then as soon as he gets them all down there, she tells them to bring them upstairs to their seats. Poor Jon!

Then they decide to take all the kids to look for new bunk beds for the sextuplets. What were they thinking?! Jon was left to try to control the wild kids, while Kate was trying to decide which bunks to get. There was another funny exchange when Kate says she also wants trundles to go under the beds. And Jon says "Forget it! We're not having more kids!". And Kate is like "NO, its for extra sleepers when the kids have friends over!" and then she makes a goofy face at Jon. That he would even mention having MORE kids is hilarious! And then Kate turns to the salesman and say "Oh MEN! Aren't they lovely!" Kate was taking forever to decide, and in the meantime Collin was having a horrible time with very painful constipation and was crying.

When the construction is finally done, the new room looks beautiful. Its great to see the kids have more space and the girls are separated from the boys. I just noticed in Part 2 episode when the kids are eating lunch in the kitchen, that they have a wall space heater ( not sure if gas or electric, but looks gas) in there. Its a really tight space with the big table, so I don't know how they keep the kids from falling into it or touching it and getting burned. Yikes!

I don't know how Jon & Kate got through those 3 months without losing their minds or getting a divorce! If you want to see chaos in motion, watch these episodes!!
