What A Strange And Funny Trip

Warning: Spoilers
In the very first episode we see these Vikings and a Englishman talking in ways that'd fit today more than the 700's. So right away I like it. The show has subtle humor. That's the best humor. Not like the American crap sitcoms with fake laugh tracks to let you know where the jokes are supposed to be. This show is pretty damn funny if you enjoy a thinking persons kind of comedy.

On the other hand this comedy is not for everyone. It's very dark comedy much of the time. As we meet more characters they seem down right peaceful and very friendly. The kind of people you'd really enjoy getting to know. Which is almost true accept for the pillaging, raping, stealing, and taking slaves that's part of the Viking life. That and the horrible violence they use on slaves who don't seem to object to being slaves all that much. All of this is so backwards that it's just a lot of laughs.

The first season was the best. The second season got pretty frustrating at times because they overplayed the "Dumb" card. The Chieftains brother kept doing horrible things and got more chances back than anyone wanted to see. He was very easy to dislike. Season three was a prequel that in all if watching the series in total I'd recommend watching first. It's up to you but if I knew it was actually the beginning of the series I'd watched it first. Things would have been a bit clearer the first season. Although there's at least one joke about the map that's only funny if you see the seasons in their original set up.

Good action

A solid action sequence for the battle between Jarl Varg and Jarl Bjorn. Humor abounds and great costuming.
