I was going to give this movie a 5/10--the most average rating you can give--but then I decided against it and go with a 4 because I've seen too many independent shorts recycle the same ideas over, and over again. I feel like there was no passion in the storytelling and we, as an audience, are forced to accept most of the content out there because of its mere existence. Filmmaking barriers-to-entry are much lower than they used to be, and of course, writers and directors should feel the need to strive for more in this world in order to stand out. Originality is everything.

A Short Film That's "OK"

I just happened to catch Mike Donis' "Scattered" this afternoon on Amazon Prime and it's...ok. Yep, just "ok". There is nothing spectacular about this film; the acting is "ok", the story is "alright" and the overall impression it left is: "meh". Nobody's making a lasting impression but maybe that's.......ok?

Touching, Real

In a world of spandex and explosions and connected universes, I go to indie film for the connections of a more human kind. I love the characters in this film, they fell, connected, in a way that, in 2020, seems so rare.
