This French drama is worthy of attention. Slow-paced but accurate, tense and violent in parts, this series can be quite surprising and intriguing in its plot twists and characterisations. Well worth watching!

From the shocking opening sex death scene, which is based in true events, to the violent and bloody gunfight at the close, this episode is dark and gripping.
We're shown how violent these times were, and how little rights women had in marriage and society.
The ambitious young detective, Antoine, is a compelling character and I look forward to watching him develop.
The art direction is top tier. Notice the banner that's behind the anti-semitic group leader as ge stands on stage-it looks like wings and a halo.
Warning: animal cruelty in two different scenes. I am sensitive to that and had to look away.
