Wow. I almost couldn't watch. The laser diagram was nerve wracking to watch , as if you were there. Fascinating technology. What brave men doing the rescue and those dear boys Just amazing.

Warning: Spoilers
It was just bad luck that the boys and their coach got pinned down in the cave by rainwater, and that their retreat took them further into the cave.
However, it would seem that they made a critical error from the outset: they apparently did not bring any emergency supplies for spelunking (cave diving). Undoubtedly they would have been fine had they stayed within sight of the cave entrance or no more than a hundred yards from it.
Nevertheless, it was truly amazing how the rescue transpired and was executed. Kudos to those divers and their support teams!
And now for the bad news: unlike the title of this documentary series, no ocean was drained - not even a pond. Furthermore, it is deplorable that both narrators and news-people alike have this overwhelming desire to try to inject drama into an already dramatic situation. It is completely unnecessary overkill.
