Very enjoyable, holds the viewer's attention.

If you can forget the book, and forget other adaptations you will enjoy this, if you know the story, and are expecting it to play out in a certain way, think again.

Phelps has taken the main elements of the story and remixed them into this story, it's a visual feast, it looks beautiful, from the cast to the buildings. It's definitely chilling, and makes use of the horrors of the book, as well as some added bits.

There are definitely bits of it that will have you scratching your head, wondering what's going on, the last scene in particular, but as a stand alone drama, I enjoyed it very much.

I wasn't bored at any stage. 7/10

Really well done, but the story...

The Pale Horse is a book I've read several times. This adaptation is really well done, with a great acting and the central mystery is done well. But the changes have not improved the story but made it worse, mainly by completely changing Mark Easterbrook personality. Another thing was the fact that a central point of the way of kill is highlighted with all but neon signs, while in the book it is much subtler and its revelation is more interesting. In summary, it is watchable but not great.

The ending ruined the hole story

As many others I find the ending of this adaption disasterous to the plot. Why Phelps dosen't like Christie endings and why she feels urged to twist the plots, I really don't know. So thus the setting and the performance from the main characters are good, the damage done to Dame Agatha's novel is makes all in all this TV adaption a big mistake.

Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was pretty great, "It's never the one you most suspect" I didn't think for a second it was Osbourne, the thought didn't cross my mind, not until they lingered on the rat poison in his shot making it obviously did I figure it out. I liked the ending even if it was a tad wee bit confusing.

Warning: Spoilers
If one can divorce oneself from Agatha Christie, this is enjoyable. I was pleased that we move away from the supernatural, back to real human beings and what they deal with. And also find that true evil is in us. The principle character is about as cold as one can be, virtually emotionless. He is handsome and rich and that explains his teflon quality. I have to go back and read the book. I'm sure whiie there are parallels, this goes a bit beyond.
