I want a quinceañera

A good first episode with relatable situations, albeit in caricature form, for any parent. The show has potential, it remains to be seen if that will be realised.

I actually laughed a lot

Maybe it's because I don't have children, maybe it's because I like both of the lead actors, maybe it's because I'm feeling smug that I'm not in the situation that our characters find themselves in. But much to my pleasant surprise, I found myself laughing a lot at this programme. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of swearing and there's a lot on this, but the delivery of the swearing to emphasise the extreme frustration made it just about acceptable to me. The children are great too. This isn't outnumbered, it's dark. But not dark and complicated. My wife and will be watching more.

Meh

It's a bit funny in places but kinda cringey to watch. The whole episode is about how miserable the parents are because of the kids; although their own bad parenting causes all the problems they are dealing with, so you can't feel any sympathy for them. Definitely won't continue watching.

Why do writers think countless F-bombs are funny?

This might have had the potential to be a good show, but I couldn't even finish watching the first episode. Humor isn't created or measured by how many times a character says f@#$, especially when it's so often directed at two kids who are seven years old or less. I'm no prude, but I expect comedy to be based on actual humor, not the repetition of the ultimate profanity. Breeders is a perfect example of a show that thinks getting away with crude language on a streaming service will bring in an audience. This show isn't funny. It's immature and badly flawed. How sad.

No Sleep
Prismark1015 March 2020
Paul (Martin Freeman) and Ally (Daisy Haggard) are middle aged parents to kids under seven and they are stressed out with parenthood.

This is the premise of Breeders, being a parent is not always a bundle of laughs when you also have full time jobs.

The first episode has Paul dealing with kids who are not sleeping at night. One of them fears that the house will burn down.

Based on an idea by Martin Freeman. It came across as Outnumbered with swearing. In fact too much swearing. Although Sky television is no longer Murdoch owned, I bet the Sun newspaper will make no mention of the amount of swearing in this show and in front of small children.

There are flashbacks of the couple being happy and relaxed before they had children. You also have scenes of Paul and Ally with their own parents.

Billed as a comedy, it probably is more of a dark comedy drama. Well acted by the leads but do not expect to be laughing out loud.
