I can buy that Johnny doesn't understand technology in the last 30 years. Barely But he thinks that a mongoose isn't a real animal? Has he been taking dumb pills for 30 years? It's almost as bad as Johnny not understanding the phrase "drinking the Kool-Aid".
Other than that, which is the writers still showing Johnny as a butt-monkey, the rest is okay. Daniel helps Sam get over her PTSD with a pep talk and a little Miyagi advice. Yasmine softens up a bit. Mariduyena... reacts, but he's good at that. As is his training montage with Johnny at the beginning. Amanda doesn't have much to do. Robby is still MIA for now two episodes in a row. Hawk looks like he's having his second thoughts, but still continue to be a jerk.
We don't get any more Vietnam flashbacks to Young Kreese. But Kove does get a scene with Johnny, insisting that he cares about his students while still teaching them toxic attitudes. Whether that's an improvement or not, your mileage may vary. I prefer Kreese as he is here, as a bad guy with hints of humanity. Rather than the whole-out flashbacks that attempt to make us sympathize with him as something more than a three-dimensional villain. As a three-dimensional villain, Kreese is fine.
So nothing bad about the episode. And there are a few good moments. Johnny's unfamiliarity with mongooses may be unbelievable, but Zabka at least sells it as he does all of Johnny's "stupid" moments. And his 80s attitude. And I like his chemistry with Mariduena.
But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?
