A nice journey.

I enjoyed this journey in the French Polynesia: beautiful landscapes and very interesting activities.

First of all the women in the Polynesian society: of course there are the famous postcards with the "vahine" , the Tahitian women. Teva Sylvain is a photographer who take pictures : the elements are the turquoise sea and coconut trees. Sacha Williams , the model, explains that the vahine pictures are a stereotype : the Tahitian women are active women.

Isabelle Lesourd (journalist at the magazine Fenua Orama) explains that the Tahitian study and some of them become entrepreneur: Vaimiti Vanel Tunoa (Conserverie de Tahiti) is producing and selling canned "rillettes de thon" and says that 40 % of the new entrepreneurs in Tahiti are women.

Tehaapapa i a young Tahitian woman who is sailor in the French National Navy.

The flowers are very important in Tahiti: first of the all the tiaré flowers; Vincent Dina Bollange is a tiare flowers producer and shows how they make the monoi oil: coconut oil and tiare flowers.

At the agricultural school of Opunioha the horticulturist Philippe is teaching flowers growing (torch gingers).

Besides the flowers are used in the traditional ceremonies for the flower-costumes : Marguerite Lai explains that the dancers were only costumes made with flowers which bring colours and scent to the dance.

We meets Vehia and Rohan , two young who practice spearfishing: they can stay 2 minutes and 30 seconds a¡under water without breathing and dive at the deepth of 25 meters: this day they participate in a spearfishing competition and won with the fishing a barracuda.

Then we discover a vineyard in the atoll of Rangiroa; after some experiments Dominique Auroy discovered that the Carignan variety was adaptefd for these tropical conditions: the oenologist Sébastien Thepenier is now organizing the grape harvest, then the grapes are sent by boat to the winery: finally Sébastien organizes a great meal with the harvesters (like in France).

The island of Tetiaroa is famous by Marlon Brando bought there a house and built there an hotel (the Brando Hotel, 30 high standart villas): now the hotel has solar panels. On the same island Cécile Gaspar, a biologist, has come to observe the sea turtles when they lay thieir eggs and these eggs will be protected.

In French Polynesia we can see the "trucks", trucks transformed into buses: the people can rent them for an excursion: in the past these "trucks" were the public transport between Papeete and the villages.

In the island of Rangiroa the commune manages a very old "truck" for the transport of materials or coffins. Finally some colleges of Tahiti have their own " truck" for the pedagogic excursions.

I enjoyed the encounters of Tiga with Teva Victor (the grandson of the explorer Paul-Emile Victor), with Roger Tetuanui, his daughter Raumata Tetuanui and his wife Yéla Liao, with Maeva Shelton, Mama Tina and Uncle Luis ( the earth oven), with Petit Louis (the coconut tree climber), with Tiaré Trompette , the dance coach, with Freddy "Star" Fagu, the costumer, with Nicolas Buray (diving among the sharks), with Laurence Anzai (the cafe manager) and with Thibaut Cattiau , the Polynesian canoe coach,; very nice encounters with very king Tahitian men and women.
