"Bum-Bum" is a German 15-minute short film from 2006, so this one has its 10th anniversary this year. It is a live action movie that was written and directed by Richard Kropf and Marcus Schuster. The former is still a prolific television filmmaker today, while the latter never worked on a movie afterward, at least according to IMDb. This is a decent watch for tennis fans or just those who experienced the Boris Becker hype here in Germany. It is the story of a little boy who admired Becker and who wants to be just like him and aspires to become a tennis player himself. Sadly, things do not turn out as nice as he hoped they would. This little movie includes quite a handful of known names surprisingly, such as Lohmeyer, Metschurat, Wenzel and Kessler, even if all of them have only one scene basically as we see the child actor from start to finish. I personally did not find the story too interesting or well-done, but the film lives through the nostalgia of all the Becker references and how the boy witnesses them, for example when he says another Michael is posing a challenge to Becker with a famous reference to the all-German Wimbledon final. As a whole, I enjoyed this film, but this is probably mostly due to the fact that I am a big tennis fan anyway. People who aren't probably cannot see the appeals and also will not become tennis fans because of this film. From my personal subjective position, I give it a thumbs-up though. Worth checking out with a funny moment here and there.
