This is part 2 of the GRX arc; I always thought this was a slightly interesting arc as it sort of predates Steven King's "Christine" which sort of makes me wonder if he saw this arc before he written the book.

But anyway, we see unfortunately Speed has let himself get seduced by the power of the car, or you could say the car put a spell on him. This unfortunately ridden him straight into trouble as he is unconscious from the nasty effects the car has on him, we see the usual suspenseful last-minute save.

But this comes down to a fist a cuff battle with Pops racer and the big thug for hire. Really like the choreography as it looked like the kind of wresting match you would see on WWE. It's a solid back and forth however when it comes to wrestling Pops is the best as we see him just putting the hurt moves on the thug, so yeah mess with Pops Racer you go down with the rest.

Despite the rescue Speed isn't acting like himself as he's still under the evil GRX's influence, there is a scene where Pops gives Speed a form of therapy where he splashes water on him to knock his senses back into place. But just when Pops administers the final bucket of water unfortunate Speed dodges and Trixie takes it, and then Speed just laughs like the jack ass he's made himself to be. I'll admit that moment just made me want to slug Speed in the stomach, I know that's bold but insult to injury isn't the least bit funny, from his girlfriend's misfortune, what he's been though, along with the casualties the GRX claimed.

Though this also makes me worried about Speed as he's better judgement lines are still disabled as we see once the opportunity presents itself, Speed takes it. Though this doesn't last long once Pops and the rest intervene thankful and take Speed to safety. Speed we see acts childish when he practically whines and says, "I want to drive the GRX", I remember thinking "yeah you're driving alright into an early grave."

We see how bad the car has affected Speed once Pops subjects Speed to a test and we see Speed has literally become afraid of speed. Speed is affected by even the slowest movement say 20 mi, he would literally perceive that as too fast. I'll admit seeing that was sad because we see despite the power the GRX has offer, it's taken something away from Speed in return which was his confidence and desire for speed and to simply race.

I really like how in a way the business with the GRX is sort of a metaphor for drug use, you can say it's like you feel like you at the top pole position that nothing can stop or catch you. But this doesn't last as you then suddenly start slowing down and go straight to the dead last pole position.

Really like the race at the end it's a different kind because here it's a race for Speed not so much to reach the finish line but to reclaim his own sanity and everything he is. Really like the monologue from Pops that Speed thinks about while he's driving, I actually do believe in it and it's something I sometimes think about whenever I get ill confidant at some point in my life, it really shows how in those times of ill confidence that is when confidence is needed the most and that it can be gained and reclaimed as long as we keep on course and our foot on the gas.

Throughout the race we see as Speed keeps on course, gaining speed and distance so does his confidence, of course Speed as usual crosses the finish line however the real victory was see Speed being Speed once more.

Unfortunately, one never crossed the finish line and won't ever again as the GRX claims it's final victim and we then hear a little twist in the end which displays grim irony but also shows that it takes more than speed to be a real winner.

Rating: 3 and a half stars.
