Apart in the World is a beautifully shot film, understated and very entertaining. It fully explores the character, Boris Babaev, and the world he inhabits. Well paced, great locations, characters and scenery. The story of Boris, the only Kosher butcher in Poland since WW2, and his quest to find a sheep to slaughter. A fresh perspective on both contemporary Poland and Jewish identity. He's a great subject in an alien world full of people who want him to lead. Best meditation on cultural themes I've ever seen. Haunting and spiritual. Belongs in festivals and on PBS. This is the first film I've seen of Mr. Chrentryvostky and I can't wait to see more of his work.
