When Fertog the Bear is suddenly arrested. He is rescued by Swiss Peter von Breck (Robert Shaw) and his servant.
William Tell is glad of Pter's assistance who has fled his area because of the Austrians and has come looking to join William Tell.
However Peter is so cocky and arrogant, he will not obey orders from Tell. He even goes off with his servant and steals a valuable jewellery.
Peter now plans to ambush the Austrian soldiers and wants a meeting of the other resistance leaders.
