It is the old doppleganger episode. Gessler has found a William Tell lookalike from somewhere.
So Gessler does a bit of double taxation. He taxes them one, gets the William Tell double to steal the proceeds. Then taxes them again.
The Swiss locals are unhappy with Tell. They also want the tax money back that he stole from Gessler.
Only for William Tell to plead his innocence but it falls on deaf ears. Even Tell's wife gets taken in by the double. Even though the double has a big scar on his face.
A good knockabout especially with the final showdown with the two Tells.
