Weird Al's boss, J. B., is letting his nephew take over Al's show, much to Al's displeasure. The bratty boy demands that Al sing about everything from opening his mail to opening the door. The kid has even brought in a house band to accompany him. Meanwhile, Al has invented a malfunctioning automatic toenail clipper; Dick Van Patten dances in a tutu; Al tells us all about Hawaii; the kiddie celebrity Tahj Mowri deeply regrets his visit; Al shows his music video about "Jurassic Park"; and Fred Huggins sings "It's Nice to Be Nice."
The central idea of this episode—Al is forced into performing impromptu songs—makes for tepid comedy. It's nice finally to see the comedy great Stan Freberg appear on camera as Al's boss (Freberg usually is off camera as the puppet Papa Boolie), but he is given little to do. The Al TV segments are the highlight of every show, but this time we only get one. Luckily it features the hilariously goody two-shoes kiddie host, Fred Huggins, who provides this episode's only laughs.
