I cry every time I watch this episode. I treasured both Grandpa Walton and Will Geer. I'm glad they made this one in his honor. I still remember the first time it was on and the shock of losing such a fine man. It's 2022 now and almost all of the adults on the show are gone now. Only Michael Learned and the Walton children still remain. So hard to believe.

Tribute to Grandpa Walton

Warning: Spoilers
This isn't much on the details of the episode. It does a good job at paying tribute to Grandpa Walton . It's also about changes they make ( although some don't stick) that's also life sometimes we learn to appreciate what we have. Erin and Mary Ellen learn that .
Will Geer was grandpa . He died as season six was ending but after the filming was complete. It was particularly sad as we just got Grandma Walton back. Ellen Corby was recovering from a stroke.
Something went out of the show after that it was never quite the same. That's not to say it was bad a lot of it was still good often very good. He was the spirit of the show he had a joy of living that lifted your heart and made it a little lighter.
