Streaking ****1/2

Original Air Date: September 6th, 1998

President Gerald R. Ford is coming to small town Wisconsin and Forman clan patriarch Red (Kurtwood Smith) is given the opportunity to ask him one question. The only question facing Red however, is will he ask the pre-approved inquiry or invoke his freedom of speech and ask his own, harder hitting query. For the third show in a series' run, this is a surprisingly dead on sitcom portrait of America. The writers, cast, even (soon to be) long time director David Trainer are all comfortable in their positions and expertly blend together the matchless melting pot of Midwestern values and hyperactive humor.

This show presents a novel way of dealing with the economic recession of the seventies while touching upon the popular counter cultural subject of streaking through populated events (for evidence of this activity's reputation look no further than Ray Steven's 1974 song "The Streak"). Nothing is taboo for this show, be it the sexual inclinations of Donna Pinciotti's parents hinted at before her very ears or religious symbolism depicted in the school cafeteria during a moment of rebellious decision regarding the title pursuit.

It's not just the standout scripting of the episode or the marvelous way it's presented, it's also the undeniably superb casting choices the producers made. There's the show-stealing performance from Kurtwood which begins to truly define his curmudgeonly lovable character. There's also the wonderful highlighting of differences and similarities between working class grump Kurtwood and fun-loving, American flag jumpsuit wearing next door neighbor Don Stark (who plays air-headed Bob Pinciotti a little too perfectly). Each teenager spotlighted on the show has already been well-rounded in their creation and it's also incredible to have two generations of sex symbols living under the same roof on screen: the heartbreakingly hot Laura Prepon (Donna) and the ageless Aphrodite Tanya Roberts (as Donna's mom Midge Pinciotti). I do believe the series marginally missed out by not developing the high school principal (Mark Bramhall) into a recurring supporting role, though that's a very minor nitpick compared to the successes achieved. Overall, "Streaking" hits another horsehide out of the park on the entertainment ball field that is television.

The One Where Eric Streaks...

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy this episode. It's really funny. I love how they add things like presidents into the episode.

In this episode, the entire town of Point Place is excited because President Ford is coming to visit the small community. While in Eric's basement, the guys decide they should do something to show their opposition, and they end up choosing to streak. It's hilarious when Eric streaks, and his butt gets covered up by a smiley face. Not a real smiley face. It's because the show couldn't actually show his butt, obviously. How funny is that? Meanwhile, Donna has to wear an embarrassing stars-and-stripes jumpsuit, that matches with her parents' outfits.

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Great.

Streaking (#1.3)

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode president Gerals R Ford comes to Point Place. Kitty is excited and so is Red when he finds out he gets to ask president a question. Only turns out that it was pre written for him. And the guys plan to do some streaking.

The episode presents the political atmosphere of the 70's when it comes to streaking.

Parents are the comic highlight of it. Bob is hilarious with his flag idea. Kitty as always make us laugh when she acts as if president will visit their home with cleaning up and baking pies. And especially great is Red who gets through with his free speech and asks the question he wants to ask instead the mild pre written one.

1x3: Streaking

Warning: Spoilers
Easily the weakest out of the first 3 episodes of the season. But still I really like it maybe more than most people.

There isn't as many pros as the last one, but why I like this episode so much is because they are bringing in things from the 70s and also one of the first and only times they get super political like based around an episode and normally I'm not a huge fan of that in most shows, but the cast carry it easily and also the plot is simple but fun. Prolly can just read the title and guess what may happen during this episode of television, but yea the guys think it would be a good idea to streak during President Ford speech. Also the other plots to this episode are all connected pretty much. With red being asked by bob to ask president Ford a question during the q and a, but bob gives him a stupid question and red wants to ask his own. Also I do like the other plot with Donna ending up dressing up as part of the flag with her parents idk it wasn't a huge part of the episode but it was sweet and showed Donna loves her family. Of course the scene with red at the q and a but freaking out and everything is in slow motion is a highlight of the episode especially once Eric decides after everyone back out to put on the Nixon mask for his dad was also a very heart warming scene. Especially the scene at the end with red calling him out on it, a better than average episode. The clothes and setting were great in this epsiode. The coats were great.

Some negatives though including idk but bob seems so out of place in this episode with Jackie's dad, it felt weird and he owns a furniture store later in the season so I'm not sure if they just didn't know what they wanted his job to be yet or what. Again though not to much bad to say I was enjoying this one all the way through just missing something to get to the top.
