SEA HUNT – The Shipwreck – 1958 This 1958 to 1961 series ran for 155 episodes. It starred Lloyd Bridges as scuba diver, Mike Nelson. He was always getting himself mixed up with various nasty types etc.
While diving off of Baja, California, Lloyd Bridges' boat is wrecked when a sudden storm hits the area. He manages to salvage a life raft, but no food or water.
Three more survivors of the storm, clinging to some wreckage float up to Bridges. Bridges helps the trio, Russ Conway, Nancy Hale and Leonard Nimoy on board his raft. They had been out fishing when the storm had swamped their boat. Hale and Nimoy are a newly married couple. Conway is Nimoy's boss.
The wind starts to blow the foursome out to sea. Bridges spears a few fish to eat but they have no water. They grow weaker and weaker as the days go by.
Conway becomes delirious from drinking seawater and the others are likewise getting to the limits of their strength. A sudden change in the wind comes up and sends them back towards land. They might make it yet.
The problem now is they make landfall on a part of the coastline, that is covered with razor-sharp rocks. Bridges manages to get safely ashore where he contacts a local fisherman. All are soon rescued and on the road to recovery.
A much better episode than I make it sound. A nice bit of adventure television. (b/w)
