This was a great episode for fans of the Civil War! An isolated Confederate Army unit is hold up in a canyon cut off from the war unknowing that the war is over. A beautiful singer (Julie London) is also along with a beautiful voice! Gil Favor takes an interest in her and we find out he has 2 daughters in Philadelphia he hasn't seen since the war. The drovers meet up with a green Federal Cavalry troop investigating raider activity not knowing it is a Confederate Army unit. I thought it was pretty cool that a lot of the drovers had been war veterans and were concerned for the green Federal Cavalry. This was a great episode with a lot of elements for fans of war shows.

Season 3 begins with the Gil Favor cattle drive going through a place that called
Rojo Canyon that might serve as a shortcut. But what Eric Fleming and Sheb
Woolley who recommends the shortcut is that there is a dwindling troop of
Confederate cavalry who are using the place as a hideout headquarters and
raiding the local farms and ranches. And there's a squad of US cavalry come to
clean them out.
For a little light entertainment Julie London is passing through and she provides a show for the drovers and troopers. Her real life husband Bobby Troup is with her as her husband/manager/accompaniest and depending on his mood it's what hat he wears at a given time.
This was a good beginning for season 3.
