An unusual sort of episode...but a good one.

Most episodes of "Police Story" concern catching a specific criminal and it shows the police work the case until they finally arrest the suspects. However, "50 Cents-First Half Hour, $1.75 All Day" is quite different. This is because it's focused more on two specific cops as well as a specific area they work. So, there is more than one case....and the two main ones are very different.

The first case Detectives Hacker and Barnes (James McEachon and Lou Gossett) work is a seemingly piddly case. A low-rent robber is robbing parking lots...and getting relatively small amounts each time. However, in the middle of working the case, their supervisor (Howard Duff) assigns them a murder case...and I assume normally murders are covered by Homicide Detectives, not general ones. Regardless, the murder leaves the very young wife of an older man dead...and her very cute 7 year-old (Rodney Allen Rippy) helps the detectives with a lead.

If you are a child of the 60s and 70s like me, you immediately recognized Rippy. This pint-sized actor was super-famous in the early 1970s for his commercials for Jack-in-the Box restaurants...and he was simply adorable and a decent little actor.

So is this any good? Of course. McEacham was not a big-name actor but was a very good one...so it's nice to see him starring in this one....where he managed to actually upstage Gossett! Well worth seeing and well worth your time.
