Another strong episode from season 2

Del gets a painting and decorating job in the kitchen of a local Chinese takeaway.

Another example of the successful formula that served the series well. Del strikes up a money-making deal, ropes Rodney and Granddad into it and in the end it goes comically pear-shaped.

We have plenty of well written banter between the central three characters along with Trigger. Leonard Pearce delivers some simple lines fantastically well and David Jason's explanation of how stealing paint from British Rail benefits the UK economy is a hilarious piece of dialogue.

I don't think it's as consistently funny as some other episodes, but of course comedy is a matter of taste. There is a fair bit of time committed to details about the Trotter family history, but this is quite important to the understanding of their characters and the overall franchise continuity.

Another nice episode from Series 2, with some good interaction between the leads, as well as us learning more about the boys beloved and dearly departed mother.

It does, as with a few of these early episodes, tail off rather abruptly at the end. We know that writer John Sullivan struggled to keep his scripts at 30 mins length, and perhaps with more time he could've given this a more rounded conclusion.

Good overall.

One of the early classic episodes in my opinion. Some of the earlier episodes seem to struggle to make up the full half hour runtime and hold onto some jokes and scenes a bit too long but this is for me the first episode where very little at all could be trimmed without losing something important.

We get a deeper understanding of the Trotter brothers' family history, where they comes from, and the reasons they are so close.

I don't think it quite deserves a 9/10 but I'd love to have given it an 8.5. Great stuff!

Warning: Spoilers
"The Yellow Peril" is hilarious. It introduces a story-line (that includes painting and decorating). The story goes: Del (in order to get rid of some hooky paint) gets a painting and decorating job at a Chinese restaurant. What he doesn't know is that the paint (sold to him by Trigger) is fluorescent and is nicked from the railway.

Yet another sturdy entry into the brilliant season two has a fantastic screenplay by John Sullivan. Brilliant acting by David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst and specially Lennard Pearce.

All in all "Yellow Peril" is a fine example of a true "Only Fools and Horses" episode spirit.
