"Dick the Kid" a must see for all wannabe cowboys and Louie Lamour readers
davedogg1 October 2006
The story starts off simple enough with Dick daydreaming about cowboying after reading a western for the umpteenth time, in fact can't get is mind on his writing at all and decides to go out west to Cowboy a little on a working dude ranch. The old west is nowhere to be found there and his discoveries of these differences leads to some of the best deadpan surprise reactions ever in comedy. I accidentally recorded this episode on VHS and it is my most prized tape. in fact the only reason i keep a VCR player.

If you never saw this one, just believe me you should be extremely jealous.

Even Cowboys Get the Blues
Hitchcoc13 March 2023
Dick has writer's block and keeps getting distracted. He has a favorite book that is a distraction. It's about what it is to be a cowboy. Soon he returns to his boyhood dream of being such a cowboy. After some pretty funny stuff, he hooks up with a ranch in the West, ready to ride and rope and roll his own cigarettes. But when he gets there, there are no horses, only a Toyota. Instead of poker night, they watch movies on the VCR. Dick plays straight man, using western jargon to talk with his bunkmates. This is one of the cleverest of the Newhart shoes. As a B plot, we have Larry, Darryl, and Darryl bringing back their "anything for a buck" thing. So Stephanie hires them to do all her work, with hilarious results. Don't miss this one.
