MY THREE SONS AND CASABLANCA??
tcchelsey23 July 2023
This is a very sentimental story, and the reason why MY THREE SONS was such a great show. The magic behind it was the series was very relatable, and we all watched Steve's sons grow up through the years. It's also interesting how times and styles changed over the 12 years it ran on prime time tv; from the prim and proper 60s to the more colorful and free spirited 70s.

Here, for a change of pace, the story revolves around Steve (Fred MacMurray) who has fond memories of meeting that special someone in London, awhile back, all brought up via some home movies. The lady in question is Louise (well played by Anna Lee), who also has a family... but the problem concerns her kids abruptly leaving friends and memories behind, and moving to the USA. What to do?

This may have been a prelude to widower Steve's attempts to eventually, somehow, someway re-marry, which finally materilaized a few seasons later, to a local woman this time, played by Beverly Garland. MacMurray and Anna Lee make a terrific team and compliment each other in so many ways. Lee, a veteran actress in her own right, was quite popular on tv at the time and in movies. A year earlier she appeared in the SOUND OF MUSIC.

Good support from character actress Nora Marlowe (as Mrs. Carsten) who "oversees" the couple's relationship. There's a good scene as she's able to read their lips while having dinner? Note the old time favorite for romantics, "As Time Goes By..." of course borrowed from CASABLANCA, which kind of fits here. Watch this one for Fred and his pipe as he thinks it through.

SEASON 6 EPISODE 32 restored dvd box set.
