Warning: Spoilers
I learned one lesson in this episode. Blueberry filling from a donut can evaporate when falling on cotton. Actually you can still see the stain, but just barely. This episode features Kate Mulgrew, hired to sub for Murphy while she's out on leave, and recovering alcoholic Murphy can tell that Mulgrew's character has a major drinking problem. This episode really strikes a cord because it once again reiterates that just because someone is a professional and seems to have it all together doesn't mean that they are problem free. Mulgrew, who has played many strong characters, shows how good she is at her job, but also how vulnerable she is to any setbacks, looking on booze as a crutch, and offended when Murphy finally confronts her about it. But Murphy is quickly proven to be right, and Mulgrew must reach into herself to face the truth and face the help she needs, so the vulnerability of her character really explodes in front of your eyes. Murphy proves that once again she is not a quitter, and she really becomes like a sister to Mulgrew. It's a powerful episode that give Candice Bergen and guest Mulgrew some really terrific material yet get a few laughs at the same time.
