Bart is looking for a poker game when he stumbles onto Marla. She tells Bart that Pearly Gates has changed and has invested in a mine. Pearly is using an alias and is up to his old tricks. He absconds with the money when the card game breaks up. Bart and outlaw Big Jim Watson track Pearly and Marla down, but the money is gone. Big Jim devises a confusing scheme and means to kill Pearly. Pearly becomes "the troubled heir" when Bart engineers a scheme to save Pearly's life. Pearly got his nickname from the phony tie pin he wears. The later episodes were trying too hard to be funny.
