THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. – The Waverly Ring Affair - 1966
This is the 48th episode of 1964 to 1968 spy series, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. The series ran for a total of 105 episodes. The first season was filmed in black and with the remainder shot in colour. Robert Vaughn plays agent Napoleon Solo while David McCallum, plays Illya Kuryakin, Leo G Carroll plays Mister Waverly, the boss of the secret agency known as U.N.C.L.E. (United Network Command for Law & Enforcement) Their main enemy is THRUSH, an organization out to take over the planet.
UNCLE agents Robert Vaughn and David McCallum, discover evidence that THRUSH has a mole somewhere in UNCLE headquarters. Larry Blyden is soon picked out as the main suspect. He is given a round of deprogramming and fired from UNCLE. UNCLE hopes that THRUSH will pick the man up for questioning. Blyden is in fact still working for UNCLE trying to flush out the real THRUSH mole.
The THRUSH types quickly put the grab on Blyden and sign him up to work for them. Blyden then relays everything he learns back to UNCLE. This leads to Vaughn also being grabbed up for a spot of questioning. The THRUSH mole, Elizabeth Allen soon reveals herself, and is in turn grabbed up by UNCLE. This leads to a merry chase through THRUSH headquarters before all is finished.
This is an enjoyable episode that moves along at a nice clip under the sure hand of former big screen helmsman, John Brahm. Brahm is known to fans of film noir as the director of, HANGOVER SQUARE, THE LODGER, SINGAPORE, GUEST IN THE HOUSE, THE LOCKET and THE BRASHER DOUBLOON.
