Some Enchanted Evening
Prismark1026 August 2020
Robin is more interested in watching football on television. He displays less attention when Jo asks if she is sexy.

Jo has been out with her boyfriend David, who is very nice and shy. Jo expected to be ravished by him.

Jo hopes that an evening in the flat alone with David might do the trick. She gets Robin to cook a pork roast.

On the night of the dinner, Robin and Chrissie spend an uncomfortable evening with the Ropers playing a French version of Monopoly. George cheats and hopes the others do not notice.

Meanwhile David does not appreciate the dinner. He is Jewish.

There is good chemistry between Robin, Jo and Chrissie by the third episode. The latter two even go to see Robin while he is in the bath. I noticed that fragrant bath oils was used to persuade Robin to cook for Jo. The smell of Jasmine oils on Robin might give people the wrong idea.

It was certainly a time when people would not had asked for dietary requirements. It is rather obvious that Jo and David know little about each other.

Dinner for two

Warning: Spoilers
Jo is unhappy because the man she is dating - David ( Steve Patterson ) - does not seem to have any sexual interest in her. Working on the principle that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach ( and knowing of Jo's less-than impressive culinary skills ), Chrissy asks Robin to prepare a dinner for two in the flat. Actually, she blackmails him while he is taking a bath. She threatens to tip a bottle of rose and jasmine oil into the water. He reluctantly agrees, and then knocks the bottle over accidentally.

The sweet smelling Robin serves up a luscious meal of bacon pate followed by Roast Pork. While he and Chrissy retreat to the Ropers' flat, Jo ( kitted out in an evening gown ) greets David. Mrs.Roper spots David, and informs Robin and Chrissy that he is Jewish...

This episode saw the debut of Robin's 'naughty' cooking apron. You could buy these at the time by mail order from 'The News Of The World'. This is a nice episode as it makes Jo the centre of attraction. 'Robin's Nest' would in my view have been so much funnier with Jo and Larry working in that bistro instead of Vicky and Albert.

Funniest moment - Robin, Chrissy and the Ropers playing a French version of 'Monopoly'. "Allez in prison...I've won twenty pounds in a beauty contest!", says George, hoping the others' command of French is not terribly good.
