Concerned about the rising price of beer, Roper decides to brew his own. His first attempt is a reasonable success ( "it tastes nutty", says George. "No wonder!", replies Mildred: "Look who made it!" ). It has a most interesting side-effect - it makes George want to have sex with Mildred. After a couple of glasses of the stuff, Robin takes Chrissy for a driving lesson - only to run over a pedestrian's ( Harry Littlewood ) bicycle. Robin is breathalysed and summonsed to appear in Court...

A good episode this, despite bearing a strong similarity to the 'On The Buses' instalment 'Brew It Yourself'. Cooke wrote this on his own, as he did with 'Home & Away'. Some familiar faces in the supporting cast - Alistair Williamson, who was 'Mr.Duffy' in both 'Please Sir!' and 'The Fenn Street Gang', and speaking of 'Please Sir!', there's old 'Smithy' himself - Erik Chitty, as the Magistrate. Harry Littlewood was in numerous episodes of 'Love Thy Neighbour'.

Funniest moment - George pours his home-made beer into a glass. He beams with pride while Mildred looks revolted. "Look, there are things swimming in it!". "They're hops!", he says. "Alright, so they're hopping in it!".
