A young nurse has died in a mine field. It happens shortly after a date with Hawkeye. The sad thing is that he doesn't really know anything about her. She is shy and a bit reclusive. When Potter asks people in the camp to deliver a eulogy, no hands go up. Hawkeye volunteers because they were intimate, though he couldn't tell anyone the first thing about her. He goes about interviewing different people and this is utterly useless, until Father Mulcahy hands over her diary, which was found under her mattress. This is an incredibly touching episode, which gives us all a reason to care about each other because in another time that may not be available to us.

A moving episode

Warning: Spoilers
This was a rather heartbreaking and moving episode where the layers are peeled gradually as the episode culminates in the funeral of the nurse who is the subject of the episode title. If this episode was a movie, perhaps it could have explored how distraught and guilty the nurses were at thinking negatively about the nurse for not sharing chocolates with them, when in fact she furtively shared them with the patients.
It's hard to believe this episode is 35 years old, but it's timeless that's for sure.

This episode is heart touching in many ways, and I rarely give a show episode a 10, but this episode touches on how you can think, believe and judge someone on your first impressions, or what you see on the outside. You never know what is going on inside someone and it's hard to always be aware of that fact, than to find it out after they die, or are out of your life. Really touching episode for someone we haven't met before, who died in a tragic accident in a war zone. I really loved this ep.
