- When a nurse that Hawkeye is dating dies, he offers to deliver her eulogy and discovers that he didn't know her. Klinger tries to interest Charles in a business venture.
- A nurse Millie Carpenter that Hawkeye is dating dies (she dated Hawkeye and then went for a walk and died when she stepped on a landmine). Potter delivers the news to a mess tent, and nobody volunteers for a eulogy, so Mulcahy steps up. Later, Hawkeye meets Mulcahy and offers to deliver her eulogy and discovers that he didn't know her. Hawkeye admits to BJ that Millie didn't mean anything to him. But now he feels like he owes her a proper farewell
Hawkeye checks with Margaret, who didn't have much info either as Millie was new (she had a background in thoracic surgery) and kept mostly to herself (Houlihan only saw her at work, and suggests that he speak to her bunk-mates). Nurse Kelley isn't much help either (Millie took the night shifts and nurses cant agree on where she was from. She wasn't all that friendly and not easy to talk to. She got a big box of fudge from back home and only shared one lousy piece with her bunk-mates.. She probably traveled around so much that she didn't have the time to make friends). Mille was very serious about her nursing duties and was a fast learner. They both question Hawkeye on how come he went out with Millie and yet knows nothing about her. Hawkeye is chastised.
Mulcahy finds Millie's diary under her mattress and gives it to Hawkeye. Hawkeye found that Millie was head nurse at a reputed hospital and volunteered for Korea. She loved Hawkeye and was lonely. She found him kind and gentle. She wanted to tell Hawkeye how she felt. Hawkeye had no clue about her feelings. He meant something to her and he had no idea. He delivers a beautiful eulogy and says that even though it is too late for Millie to change and express her feelings, there is time for each one of them to get to each other a lot better.
Klinger tries to interest Charles in a business venture. He knows that the war wont last forever and is looking to start a business. For a small amount of money, Klinger offers 50% of the company and Winchester's name on the door, just below Klinger's. Klinger has invented the hula-hoop (he saw some kids in Seoul having fun with barrel hoops. He stole their idea and ran with it.. He used tubing from the motor pool) and wants Winchester to invest with him in the venture. Winchester thinks it is too simplistic.
The next day, while chatting to Potter, he sees a punching bag toy in Potter's office, which Potter says is all the rage back home. Winchester realizes that the American consumer is more stupid than he calculated. with everything getting so technical, people need something dumb and simple like a punching bag for fun. Winchester decides to give Klinger $700 to start the venture. Later he tries the hula hoop and Korean kids laugh at him, so cancels the deal with Klinger. The next idea Klinger pitches to Winchester is Frisbee.
