One of the best Kojak episodes has Telly Savalas working with master criminologist David Opatoshu to solve the theft of some valuable Rembrandt sketches on display at Susan Sullivan's gallery, donated by patron Ben Hammer.
Sullivan is Kojak's current flame at the moment and he and Kevin Dobson just happen to be there when a robbery goes down. They give chase to the two thieves and arrest them, but no Rembrandts.
Hammer not satisfied with the work of Kojak and Crocker hires Opatoshu to recover the sketches. Rumor has it that Opatoshu operates the way Simon Templar does and with Templar's reputation for playing both sides of the law. That disappoints Savalas, but Opatoshu tells him that whomever hires him will get justice.
Opatoshu has one unorthodox style of operating, but the man gets results. His character was so good I wish it had been given a series of his own.
One of the best Kojak episodes ever.
