Phil Morris: Vandal Savage
Quotes
-
Vandal Savage : Today is your wedding day, my beautiful queen. I know that you only married me out of duty, but when I look into your eyes, I want to give you the whole world.
Princess Audrey : Sometimes I almost believe you would if you could.
Vandal Savage : We'll see...
-
Princess Audrey : I don't know how you survived, but I promise you, you will pay for your crimes in full.
Vandal Savage : Do your worst, child. I'm immortal. I can't be killed.
Princess Audrey : [smiles] We'll see.
-
Minister : If anyone here has reason why these two should not be united in marriage, let him speak now, or forever hold their peace.
[a tank crashes through the wall of the chapel, followed shortly by Diana]
Wonder Woman : Audrey, stop! I won't let you marry him! He's...
[an energy charge hits her, and she drops to the floor, unconscious. Audrey stares as Savage calmly slips his gun back into his sleeve]
Vandal Savage : Does anyone else have any objection?
-
Princess Audrey : You're ranting like your grandfather in an old newsreel!
Vandal Savage : [laughs] Sweet, foolish child. Wonder Woman was right all along.
Princess Audrey : Ridiculous! You'd have to be over a hundred years old.
Vandal Savage : I'm far older than that.
[in flashback, a meteor falls to Earth on a frozen steppe. A group of prehistoric men and women gather around it, but only one stays]
Vandal Savage : The first time a meteor granted me power was over twenty-five thousand years ago. While my fellows cowered with fear, I dared approach the strangely glowing rock. It was warm, and the night was very cold. I slept curled up next to it, not realizing what its rays were doing to me. But over the millennia that followed, as I watched those around me grow old and die, while I remained unchanged, I discovered the truth, and came to accept my destiny.
Princess Audrey : Destiny?
Vandal Savage : I live to rule.
-
Princess Audrey : Vandal, what do you think you're doing?
Vandal Savage : Destroying the Justice League, building a railgun, assuming total dominion over the nations of the Earth.
-
[targeting his orbital railgun]
Vandal Savage : A shame, really. I rather enjoyed Paris.
-
Vandal Savage : With our railgun in orbit, Kasnia has the ultimate high ground. I am now the dominant military power on Earth. And there are going to be some changes.
[picks up a list]
Vandal Savage : Item One...
-
Vandal Savage : They're stalling, Vox.
Colonel Vox : Sir?
Vandal Savage : The nations of the world. Instead of paying me tribute, they're stalling and plotting against me. They'll have to be taught who's in charge.
-
Princess Audrey : Delusions of grandeur aside, I rule Kasnia.
Vandal Savage : That's why I married you. It's also why I poisoned your father.
Princess Audrey : You... poisoned?
[slapping him in anger, she gasps as the scratches instantly heal]
Vandal Savage : Guards, confine this brat to her quarters.
Princess Audrey : [being dragged out] Unhand me! I command you! Let me go!
-
Princess Audrey : Busy?
Vandal Savage : Merely fortifying our defenses. Wonder Woman penetrated them too easily.
Princess Audrey : She just accused you of being some sort of power-mad monstern.
Vandal Savage : Did she?
-
Vandal Savage : Today, the world changes. Kasnia is at the forefront of that change. Crucial to these changes was Kasnia's contribution to the International Space Station. Platform one... a contribution somewhat larger than you've been led to believe.
Green Lantern : No. Even he wouldn't.
Vandal Savage : This device is called a mass driver, but I prefer its more colloquial appellation, a railgun. It's all very complicated. Perhaps a demonstration is in order.
[an asteroid is pulled into one end of the gun's rings]
Vandal Savage : The asteroid is mostly iron ore. The large coils are a magnetic accelerator.
[the asteroid is fired from the gun]
Vandal Savage : The target is anywhere I say.
[the asteroid enters Earth's atmosphere]
Vandal Savage : This time, were I the U.S.S. Avington Carrier Group, I'd pick up my pace substantially.
