It's a Wise Child

This is another recovered episode from a VHS copy in Australia. It also wraps up the Parkin run of paternity episodes.

Parkin is not a very good entertainer, he is disastrous as a stores clerk. When asked to clear the mess from the yard, Parkin ended up demolishing the officer's mess. Colonel Charles Reynolds wants him posted in the jungle which Battery Sergeant-Major Williams is reluctant to do.

Even Sergeant-Major Williams has doubts whether Parkin is his son after all as he is a berk. So he plans to get Rangi to obtain Parkin's blood results.

Meanwhile Bombardier 'Solly' Solomons has already got Rangi to do the same. The blood samples prove that Parkins is not the son of Sergeant-Major Williams, much to Parkins relief.

Only Solly sees a way for the Concert Party not to be sent up the jungle. For Sergeant-Major Williams to still believe that Parkin is his son so they tamper with the results.

Only both Rangi and a blacked up Williams get stuck in the records room. Much to both men's embarrassment.

Like much of the first series, this is gently amusing. The lads get in a scrape as hey try to help Rangi escape using an elephant.

Renu Setna pops up as an officious clerk who takes no nonsense from Williams as well as humiliating him.
