"... he's reverting to his original form...."

The Invaders is a good premise for a TV show, in that every episode is like pressing a reset button; there still isn't any proof and the next episode can use a whole new cast to tell a whole new story. In this respect it has a similar structure to other popular series like 'the fugitive' in which the only common themes are the main protagonists.

In this episode we see that rare thing, someone that doesn't want to kill every Alien in sight, almost on principle. The cast is well-chosen in this case; Barbara Barrie (you may have later seen as 'Mom' in Breaking Away, and Pte Benjamin's Mom again) and Richard Anderson (countless TV appearances) were both veterans of TV before they did this show and both went on working in film and TV for decades afterwards; safe hands for this episode indeed.

This is an above average episode of the series, different in that it involves more personal contact between Vincent and the Aliens, and maybe a better understanding of what their motivations are.

Eight out of ten from me.

Flawed, but still a strong episode

Warning: Spoilers
"The Enemy" has a good premise, but too many plot holes to be an ideal INVADERS episode. A nurse living on her isolated farm rescues a wounded alien when his spacecraft crashes nearby. Pretty quickly she learns about his true nature, and even when she begins to understand his mission she continues to give him care. Medical professionals are trained to act this way, under 'normal' circumstances, but when David Vincent arrives and the alien shows a truly malevolent side, she does not give up and tries to save him. It's not easy to accept the woman's attitude or decisions. It's also not easy to accept another alien who doesn't simply kill David. An even harder thing to ignore is David not taking the alien's weapon (which he possesses for some time), and the strange box from the spacecraft, and running to authorities with it. The stubborn nurse would not have stood in his way. But it's still a pretty strong episode due to some nicely-handled dramatic moments--including one shocker. The actors themselves make it a memorable show: Barbara Barrie and Richard Anderson. Both were highly experienced players of prodigious talent. It's great to see them here.

Richard Anderson: The Sick Alien In Need Of Help
StuOz23 August 2016
Richard Anderson plays a sick alien. His saucer has crashed on earth and he seeks the help of a human female who warms to him. Vincent soon appears.

The first half of this Robert Butler directed episode is a bit slow and dull but it picks up in the second half when we see an "invader" like we have never seen an "invader" before. The lighting in the second half of this hour is of motion picture standard and I guess we have Butler to thank for that. Butler really knew his stuff as he directed the outstanding two-part pilot to Batman (1966) and Star Trek's The Cage (1965)

As you can see, season two of this series is going in all sorts of creative directions, but it is too bad we are missing the wonderful music of season one. But the season two music is okay.

A top episode

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy to watch this series again, after all those years, since I was a child. I find it still "in the run", not getting old at all. Each episode is rewarding for any one daring watching it. Always a sort of bitter sweet ending, a never ending tale of this man - David Vincent - pursuing a never ending achievement. The sub characters - supporting ones - are nearly always very interesting, away from "clichés" which we usually find everywhere else. Each episode may push the viewer to think after seeing it. Not intellectual, that's not what I mean. But not for the dumb either. In this story, we find a bad invader vs good invader scheme. Who could have bet on this? Richard Anderson is convincing in the sub lead character, as the female actress - I don't remember her name. They contribute to give a tremendous quality to this episode.

I'll continue to watch the entire show, and will tell you if any interesting stuff emerges...
