John Diehl is a respected middle class member of the Sparta community, church
deacon and all that implies. He's a reserved type not given much to venting feelings and opinions.
But he's had one unhappy marriage with his wife having a longtime boyfriend and when Diehl comes home early and catches them together in bed he shoots them both and goes over to the high school and takes his daughter with him.
