George is upset that his budgie has died. He hope's that the budgie can have a church burial.

When the local church holds and bring and buy sell. George is even more upset that his mucky magazines have been donated. They were underneath his gardening magazines.

Next door, little Tristram is learning about the facts of life. Jeffrey Fourmile is upset about the permissiveness society and it starts at the top shelf of a newsagents.

George finds himself trying to retrieve his magazines back as Mildred does not want everyone to know that she had donated them.

You would never have thought Mildred would keep so much junk that would go back to the war years. As for Jeffrey, it seems he wanted to stretch his knowledge of Swedish art.

A good year for Trevor Baxter who played the Reverend Stopes. In that year he also played Professor Litefoot in the classic Doctor Who story; The Talons of Weng-Chiang.

A fine start to series 2.

George is upset to learn that Oscar the budgie has died, he's unimpressed to discover The Vicar is after help at the local bazaar, and he's further stressed when he learns that Mildred has mixed up his 'artistic' magazines in a box of donations.

I think it's a show that got funnier with time, and this opener to the second series, is a little more cheeky, the jokes are a little more risqué, the thought of George thumbing through porno mags, too funny.

What is it about Vicars in seventies comedies, they're always so dry and funny, this one is no exception, the way he deals with George, very funny.

Lots of amusing moments, Tristram asking if mummy lays eggs is cute, as is the moment where he finds the dead budgie.

8/10.
