Baseball can be really bad for your health!

When this episode of "The F.B.I." begins, a poor schnook at a baseball game is assassinated. Soon the scene changes to a major corporation....and Steve Ramsey's actions somehow relate to the killing. Not surprisingly, Ramsey is a spy--and he's about to involve his brother and sister-in-law in his infamy.

Like so many of the best episodes of the series, tis one is about communist agents. This means lots of excitement, action and, as is usually the case, a very cold and evil spy...or spies. I love how twisted and cruel they are...particularly the lady agent. Well worth seeing and very well made.

Time to grow up....

When I first saw this episode at 10 years old, I even then knew it was special. I was a bratty kid. Something around this time....changed me- forcing me to see the seriousness and solemnity in the World. The FBI, following on Sunday after Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, was a double dose of what "could" be in our Country's future.

Regarding the episode-- the story and acting are superb. Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. And the regular cast are always steady and sure. But the Guest stars..WOW. Phyllis Taxter, always good, threw herself into a difficult role. Richard Anderson was by far in the best portrayal I've ever seen him in- depth, aggitation, pathos, respect and love....all rolled into one. Andrew Duggan gave a tortured and nuanced performance in a role no one would ever want to be in in real life. Delphi Lawrence- a stunning enigmatic personality in her own right, in her statuesque role demonstrated just how seriously our enemies perform their mission- and what they WILL DO to achieve it.

These are real cases from the FBI.

I watched this, and other episodes, and realized at an early age, the childhood needed to segue to solemn responsibility.

I am writing this review on July, 2024, over 50 years away from when this episode first aired. The forces and powers, as seen here, have probably only darkened thru the decades. We, as Citizens of the US, need to always be "grown up" and realistic of just what is in the world. The time for "play" and fun and games in our politics, and lives, should be at an end. It is time, as it probably has always been, to find and promote our BEST people and ideas. There can be no diversion, minimalization or excuses to veer from this goal.

As you can see, I consider this episode MUST viewing.
