Earl Holliman stars as Walker Carr, a man who is up on charges of murder but who cannot yet be tried because he was found incompetent. In such cases, an individual is sent to a psychiatric facility, and Walker's been there for a year. During this time, he claims to have complete amnesia concerning her supposed death and the body has never been found. After his father placed an add in the newspaper asking for help with this case, a man claims to have seen her and can help. Instead of just waiting for this to be played out, Walker escapes and goes off on his own looking for this witness, as he STILL claims to have no recall about his wife and steadfastly denies killing her. Can Erskine and the rest of the F.B.I. catch up to Walker before someone is seriously hurt...well, maybe not.
This is a pretty exciting episode because until the end, you really aren't sure whether or not Walker killed his wife. This makes him a rather sad and sympathetic character...and Holliman also did a really nice job. Overall, one of the better and better written episodes of season 5.
By the way, like many episodes, it's supposed to be occurring outside California where the show was really filmed. In this case, it's supposed to be in New York state...but in the Westchester County Fair scene look carefully...you'll see a long line of King Palm trees...something you'd never see in New York!!
