The story begins with a young girl (Belinda Montgomery) being kidnapped by a couple guys. Fortunately, some other folks witness this and soon the FBI is involved. I say fortunately because the kidnappers have Wendy write a letter to her parents, telling them she's fine and will be home soon....but the agents know she must have been forced to write this. The question is why...why would they kidnap a girl from a relatively poor family? And, why would they have her write such a note? And, if they aren't after ransom...what do they want from her??
While quite a few other episodes in the series are about kidnappings (after all, kidnapping is a federal crime), this one stands out because the motive is very different. Also, Ralph Meeker played an excellent baddie. Overall, a very good episode that's enhanced by views of what appear to be the Sierra mountain range.
